Practical notes
it is a free, open public market with no ticket. Most shops open late-morning (around 10:30–11:00 AM) to about 7:00–8:00 PM and stay largely shut on Sundays; late morning is the best time to browse before the crush. The market sits directly above its own dedicated Chawri Bazar station on the Yellow Line — one of Delhi's deepest metro stations (about 25 m down, the network's second-deepest), so expect a long escalator ride up to the lanes — and it is by far the easiest way in, as the lanes are far too narrow and congested for cars. Watch your belongings, move slowly, and give yourself an hour or two, ideally hiring a cycle-rickshaw for a leisurely loop through the bazaar before diving into the food lanes on foot.
