Your Official Food & Travel Guide

Privacy Policy

Last updated · 22 September 2026

TasteYatra (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) is a free vegetarian food and travel guide. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit tasteyatra.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, address, or payment details to read our guides. We automatically receive standard technical data that your browser sends — such as your approximate region, device type, browser version, and the pages you view — which helps us understand what content is useful and keep the site secure. If you email us, we receive the address and message you choose to send.

Android App Early Access

Our Android app is in closed testing on Google Play. If you ask for early access, we collect the one thing Google Play needs to send you an invitation: the email address of the Google account you use on your Android phone. You choose to give it; nothing on this site requires it.

That address is stored in a private Google Sheet, held on our behalf by Google as our processor under Google's privacy policy, and readable only by us. Alongside it we record the page you were on when you asked, which tells us where the interest came from and nothing about you. It is used for one purpose — adding you to the tester list in the Google Play Console so Play can email you the invitation — which means Google Play receives it too, because Play is what sends the email. We do not send marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not add it to any mailing list. We keep it only while the closed test runs and delete it once the app is public; you can ask us to remove it sooner at contact@tasteyatra.com and we will remove it.

Your Location

The home page can find the city guide nearest to you. If you tap the location button and allow it, your browser reads your approximate position and the page matches it against our own list of city coordinates on your device. The position itself is never sent to TasteYatra or to anyone else, and it is discarded as soon as the nearest city is known. The same is true when you type a city name: the suggestions come from our own list, so what you type stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to us until you choose to open a guide, and then only the page you open, like any other link.

The only things kept are the matched or chosen city — its name, its state and the link to its guide — in your browser's session storage, so the bar remembers it while the tab is open. It is cleared when you close the tab or clear your browser data; your position and your distance from the city are never stored. You can decline the location prompt and use the app exactly as before, and you can revoke the permission at any time in your browser or phone settings.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use them to remember your language preference, measure traffic, and serve advertising. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; some features (such as remembering your chosen language) may not work if you do.

Advertising & Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising on some pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to TasteYatra and other sites on the internet.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and understand which guides are most helpful. This data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you.

How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect to operate and improve the site, choose which topics to cover next, keep the service secure, and — where applicable — display relevant advertising. We never sell your personal information.

Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Data Security & Children

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. TasteYatra is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes & Contact

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@tasteyatra.com. See also our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
