Amrik Sukhdev is the best-known name on the Murthal dhaba strip and, for many, the definitive Grand Trunk Road pit stop north of Delhi. Entirely vegetarian and open around the clock, its vast dining halls and takeaway counters serve close to a dozen kinds of stuffed tandoori paratha — aloo, gobi, mooli, paneer and mixed — each arriving blistered from the tandoor under a melting slab of home-churned white butter. Thick sweet or salted lassi, chaach, and a sweets counter of milk-cake and pinni round out the road-trip feast. It draws thousands of travellers every day, at every hour.

Location & How to Reach

🅿️ Parking: Large free highway parking; it fills fast on weekend evenings and holidays.

How to Reach: On NH-44 (GT Road) at Murthal, about 50 km north of central Delhi — roughly an hour by car via the Delhi-Sonipat highway. A standard stop on any road trip towards Chandigarh, Punjab or the hills. No metro; reached by car or highway bus.

Pro Tip

Come for an early weekday breakfast to beat the tour buses, and ask for extra white butter — it is the whole point. Menu prices are approximate and shift with the season.
