Surajpur Wetland is one of the best-known urban wetlands of the National Capital Region — a restored freshwater lake and reserve-forest habitat on the edge of Greater Noida, and a key stopover for migratory and wintering waterbirds.

  • Set within the Gulistanpur and Khodna Khurd reserve-forest blocks in the Yamuna basin, it was revived from around 2010 by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, working with WWF-India and the Greater Noida authority, through desilting, bunding and habitat management that turned a neglected water body into a managed bird sanctuary and eco-tourism site.
