Practical notes
entry is free (visitors sign a register at the gate), and it is open daily, roughly 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, though timings vary and access can be suspended at short notice during bird-flu alerts — verify before travelling. Bring binoculars, comfortable shoes, sun protection and mosquito repellent, keep to marked paths and respect the wildlife. There is no metro close by — the nearest Aqua Line stations (Alpha 1 / Pari Chowk) are roughly 7–8 km, so come by cab or car. Peak birding is November to March; allow two to three hours, and come at first light or in the last hour before closing, when the birds are most active and the low sun over the water is loveliest for photography.
