Conflictorium

Conflictorium is a participatory museum in Gool Lodge, Mirzapur, using art, archives and visitor responses to explore memory, disagreement and dialogue. Its compact setting offers a different cultural experience from Ahmedabad’s larger collections and monumental buildings.

The institution invites reflection rather than offering a simple sightseeing checklist. Read each installation’s explanation and take time to decide how you want to engage. Personal responses can differ; the visit works best with curiosity and respect for other interpretations.

An opening sound installation introduces the layered history of Gool Lodge and the people associated with it. Listen before moving on, considering how a remembered experience can change the way a building is understood. Follow any instructions for operating audio.

One section makes a copy of the Indian Constitution available for engagement. Other displays use stories and sound to examine social relationships. Read the museum’s own framing without treating one exhibit as a general judgement about a city or its residents.

The Memory Lab invites visitors to contribute reflections, while other installations consider empathy and apology. Participation should be thoughtful and voluntary. Decide what you are comfortable sharing, and avoid reading or photographing another visitor’s personal contribution without permission.

Talks, workshops, performances and fellowships are advertised separately from the permanent museum. Check whether a listed activity is in Ahmedabad or at the institution’s Raipur location. Ordinary museum access does not establish a place at a limited-capacity programme.

The operator publishes 11 AM–7 PM, Tuesday to Sunday. Confirm current admission, any exceptional closure and accessibility assistance before a special journey. Some subject matter may prompt discussion, so accompanying adults can review the museum’s descriptions when planning with children.
