🚕 Ride Hailing Tip: App cabs (Ola/Uber) are patchy this far from the city core; it is easier to hire a return auto or taxi from Varanasi and have it wait, or negotiate a fixed round-trip fare.
How to Reach: Sarnath lies about 10–11 km north-east of central Varanasi. From Varanasi Junction (BSB) railway station or Varanasi Cantt it is a 25–35 minute drive; shared autos, private autos and taxis run regularly, and there is a small Sarnath railway halt on the Varanasi–Gorakhpur line. The museum sits directly opposite the archaeological ruins and Dhamek Stupa, a short walk from the auto stand. Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS) is roughly 24 km away, about 50–60 minutes by taxi. Varanasi has no metro.
