Allahabad University Senate Hall

The Senate Hall of the University of Allahabad is one of Prayagraj's most stately pieces of civic architecture, a domed ceremonial building set within the historic Arts Faculty campus in the Georgetown–Katra quarter of the city.

• The University of Allahabad, founded in 1887, was among the earliest modern universities in the subcontinent and earned the affectionate epithet "the Oxford of the East" for the generations of scholars, jurists, poets and administrators who passed through its cloisters.
• The Senate Hall stands as the architectural centrepiece of that legacy — the room where the university's Senate historically deliberated and where convocations, formal ceremonies and cultural gatherings continue to be held.
