Ayodhya Dham Junction is the modern rail gateway to the sacred city of Lord Ram, and for a great many pilgrims it is the first sight of Ayodhya they behold. One of India's older stations — the original halt dates to 1874 — it was reimagined in a sweeping redevelopment whose first phase opened on 30 December 2023, and it was renamed from Ayodhya Junction to Ayodhya Dham Junction to reflect its role as the threshold of a tirtha (place of pilgrimage).
