About
The Okhla Bird Sanctuary sits at the south-western edge of Noida, where a barrage across the Yamuna spreads the river into a broad, reed-fringed reservoir on the Noida-Delhi border.
- Notified as a bird sanctuary and recognised as an Important Bird Area, its few square kilometres of open water, marsh, and scrub are one of the finest birdwatching spots in the National Capital Region, with several hundred species recorded over the years. Winter is the season.
- From roughly November to February the wetland fills with migratory waterfowl — ducks, geese, waders, and the occasional rarity that sends the NCR's birding community hurrying to the embankments at dawn.
- Raised paths, watchtowers, and viewing points let visitors scan the water and reedbeds; a pair of binoculars and an early start are all you really need.
- The rest of the year is quieter, with resident birds and a green calm that feels far from the surrounding city.
- The sanctuary charges a modest entry fee (with higher rates for foreign visitors and for cameras) — carry a little cash and verify the current rate at the gate.
- Come at first light for the most activity and the best light, walk softly, and keep to the marked paths.
- It pairs well with a visit to nearby central Noida, whose vegetarian cafés and markets are a short drive north.
Timings & Entry Fee
