Gita Mandir & Birla Heritage, Porbandar

Set in the seaside town of Porbandar, on the Saurashtra coast of Gujarat, the Gita Mandir is a calm, gleaming marble temple that pairs quiet devotion with fine craftsmanship.

• It belongs to the family of marble shrines endowed across India by the Birla industrial house, and like its sister temples it favours cool white stone, clean geometry and an unhurried, contemplative mood over crowded spectacle.
• The temple is dedicated to Krishna, worshipped here in his tender aspect alongside Radha, and it draws pilgrims travelling the wider Dwarka circuit as well as visitors exploring Porbandar, which by tradition is celebrated as the town of Sudama, Krishna's devoted childhood friend.
