Bengaluru (Bangalore) is India's technology capital and arguably its most pleasant year-round city — sitting at 920 metres elevation on the Deccan Plateau, it has the country's mildest climate, almost never exceeding 35°C in summer or dropping below 14°C in winter. For travellers, the city offers the colonial-era Cubbon Park, the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens (famous for the bi-annual flower show), the Tipu Sultan Summer Palace, the ISKCON temple complex, and the leafy Indiranagar and Koramangala neighbourhoods for cafés and craft markets. For vegetarian travellers, Bengaluru is India's greatest dosa city — Vidyarthi Bhavan in Gandhi Bazaar (since 1943, queue 30 minutes for the masala dosa), Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR, since 1924, the original rava idli kitchen), and CTR (Central Tiffin Room) in Malleshwaram are the holy trinity. Karnataka's vegetarian thali — bisi bele bath, ragi mudde, mysore pak, holige, and unlimited filter coffee — is one of South India's great meals. The city is excellently connected: a metro network, abundant Ola/Uber, and Kempegowda International Airport with direct flights worldwide. Year-round travel is possible.
